Orbitalservice GmbH of Heimbuchenthal, Germany, develops and builds orbital welding machines, open and closed weld heads, turn tables, remote controls, cold-wire feeders and residual-oxygen measuring devices, and manufactures its systems in Germany. BTH Sales is the exclusive Canadian importer of Orbitalservice.
The range is for tube and pipe fabrication: Orbitalservice names metalworking shops, breweries, dairies and pipe fitters as the CompactDual's typical users.
Power source
The CompactDual is an all-in-one orbital and TIG hand welding machine: TIG DC, constant or pulsed, 3 to 220 A, on single-phase 115/230 V input. For water-cooled weld heads, add the Cooler Dual, which runs off the CompactDual's internal power and shows coolant temperature on a front display.
Weld head: closed or open
- Closed weld heads (CWH series): pipe OD from 3 to 114.3 mm (0.12 to 4.5 in). The CWH 53, CWH 76 and CWH 115 are water-cooled.
- Open weld heads (OWH series): pipe OD from 8 to 273 mm (0.31 to 10.75 in), with water- or gas-cooled TIG torches. OWH 76 to 273 are available with AVC and oscillation.
Tube preparation and purging
Square-cut the tube with Orbitalservice pipe cutters, purge with purge caps or gas double plugs, and check residual oxygen with the PRO2stick oxygen analyzer.

Remote controls (RC Plus+ and RC Mini), the TC600 pipe tack clamp, TIG tack staplers, the TR 1000 rolling system and turn tables are listed in this collection.

Should I choose a closed or an open orbital weld head?
Orbitalservice's closed weld heads (CWH series) cover pipe OD from 3 to 114.3 mm (0.12 to 4.5 in); the larger CWH 53, 76 and 115 are water-cooled. Open weld heads (OWH series) cover 8 to 273 mm (0.31 to 10.75 in) OD and run with water- or gas-cooled TIG torches, and OWH 76 to 273 are available with AVC and oscillation. Choose by your pipe OD range and whether you need AVC/oscillation.
Can the CompactDual also be used for manual TIG welding?
