Punching has no fixed maximum hole size: it depends on the machine's force. Nargesa's tonnage formula is tons = hole perimeter (mm) × material thickness (mm) × material strength (kg/mm²) ÷ 1000, with 45 kg/mm² for mild steel. Nargesa's example: an 18 mm round hole in 10 mm mild steel needs about 25.4 tons. Keep the hole diameter larger than the material thickness.
